Know the Word. Love the Word.

Live the Word.

In some ways, I’m not quite sure what my “title” is. All I know is that I love writing and talking about the things I love. Maybe that makes me a “speaker” or a “writer” or a “podcaster” or a “pilgrim formation manager,” or maybe it just makes me someone who wants to help others love what I love.

New Release!

In Opening the Holy Door, scripture teacher and veteran tour guide Joan Watson examines sixteen panels of the jubilee Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica, guiding readers to pray and reflect upon the deeper meaning of these images by contemplating them through the lens of Scripture. With a unique combination of an attentive gaze and imaginative prayer, Watson guides you to experience, panel by panel, each image as a focal point in the Scripture narratives. Whether you’re preparing for a visit to the Holy Door or embarking on an armchair pilgrimage from home, these reflections provide a meaningful way to celebrate the Year of Hope.

This book is more than a guide for the jubilee year; it’s a spiritual companion for anyone seeking answers and hope in a fractured world.

“Like a superhero, Joan Watson arrives just in time—to help us make the most of the Jubilee Year, a grace created especially for you and me and our generation. God wants us to understand this grace and correspond to it.
He wants us to bring our family and friends along with us.
This book shows us how. This book is powerful.”

“Very few people have been able to simply and eloquently explain the beauty of the Catholic Church to me as Joan does! She is an incredibly engaging, knowledgeable, caring and passionate teacher and … so selflessly allows herself to be the vessel in which God is able to touch hearts and change lives!”

INVITE JOAN TO SPEAK

I have spoken in front of audiences as diverse as college students to school principals to members of the Roman curia. I'm a person in the pew, just like you are, so my favorite audiences are sinners who are trying to be saints, just like I am.
